To demonstrate the visual qualities of our proposed design, we constructed a physical prototype.

The prototype was built by placing tightly-wrapped bundles of black plastic straws within a black-painted wooden frame.

Five small incandescent lights were placed in a box behind the frame.

Colored velum was used to color the light passing through the straws.

A mockup of the control panel was created with silver and black paper and metallic pens.

Sample designs for the guest controller cards were made by modifying transparent plastic playing cards.
